Fashion Inspiration: Risky

shirt: Gap (via consignment shop), cardigan: Target, jeans: American Eagle, sandals: Target
necklaces: Forever 21 & The Limited, lipstick: Revlon (Wine with Everything)

This may make me look like a "fashion" wimp,
but here were the thoughts going through my head as I put this outfit together.

Dark "cranberry" lipstick....risky.
Messy bun worn as a "top knot"....risky.
Wearing 3 necklaces at 1 time....risky.

Overall, it was all worth the "risk."
It was amazing to me that I was able to show confidence in this "risky" outfit.
Maybe this whole blog thing is starting to rub off on me...in a good way.
I'm really learning to tap into my creativity and explore my "style" with confidence.

Fashion Inspiration: Green...Again

shirt: Target, cardigan: J.Crew Outlet, pants: NY&Company
necklaces: Forever 21, watch: Michael Kors (gift), sandals: Target

I'm having so much fun with these green pants!
They are adding a nice "pop" of spring color to my closet.

I know that I have mentioned this before...but blogging has really opened my eyes to the endless possibilities of remixing.
The "old" me would have picked a white or black tee to wear with these pants over and over again.
The "new" me continues to think of the endless possibilities of color and layering to wear with these pants.
So far, I've only worn these pants one other time, but...
I'm excited to see the combinations that I come up with in the future.

Fashion Inspiration: Rust Skinny Jeans

shirt: Forever 21, tank: Gap, pants: TJMaxx, sandals: katie & kelly (via DSW)
watch: NY&Company, bracelet: vintage (gift from my mother-in-law)

I'm so glad that I found these rust colored skinny jeans at TJMaxx.
It has been fun discovering ways to "remix" them.
Granted, I have only worn them one other time...{check it out here}...
...but there will be more remixing.  Trust me, there will be more.

High Five for Friday! (plus a few extra favorites)

Here are my 5 favorite things from this week...

1. Easter Sunday

2. Coconut Cake
I completely surprised my dad on Easter Sunday and made my Grandma's coconut cake.
He loved it and said that it tasted just like her's.  I think that is the highest compliment a baker can receive.

3. "Sunday's Coming"
I know this video is like a week late...but it is SO good!

4.  Wedding with Friends

5. Brunch
On Saturday, we got to have brunch at one of our favorite restaurants.
Taverna is absolutely fabulous!  Great food and atmosphere!
Of course, we had to order beignets with our meal.  :)

And...since I haven't been able to post a High Five for Friday post in a few weeks...
Here are a few of my favorite things from the weeks I missed.

Cadaver Ball
First of all....Cadaver Ball is a ball/formal/party that the 1st year medical students host in honor of the 2nd year medical students.
Second of all...yes, I agree that is a horrible name for a ball/formal/party.  And yes, I do think that a guy came up with that name.
Lastly, I absolutely adore this picture of Jason and me.

Sailing with Friends
A few Sundays ago, we were pleasantly surprised with an invitation to go sailing with some friends from church.
It was fabulous!  It was so nice to relax on the lake.  A perfect Sunday if you ask me.

Cookies and Cream Brownies
A few weeks ago, Jess posted the recipe for these brownies.
As soon as I saw it, I knew that I had to make them.  They looked delicious!
Well...let me tell you...they taste just as good as they look.  So yummy!
You should head on over to Jess's blog, Messy Jess C., and try out the recipe.

Fashion Inspiration: Easter

shirt: Forever 21, skirt: Forever 21, sandals: kelly & katie (via DSW)

These pics are a bit late, but...this is what I wore on Sunday for Easter.

I was so excited when I found this gorgeous skirt at Forever 21...of all places.
You really have to be on a hunt at Forever 21 and it can be very hit or miss.
A lace skirt has been on my "wish list" recently.
And there it was...like a beacon in the night...right at the front of the store.
Oh and I got to take it home for $22...oh and it is a modest length.
Score!  Knee-length...lace skirt...under $25.
Now that is a successful purchase.
I can't wait to remix this baby.  Oh the possibilities!

Fashion Inspiration: Pastels

shirt: Banana Republic Outlet, cardigan: J.Crew Factory, necklace: Hananah D's
pants: J.Crew Factory, sandals: kelly & katie (via DSW)

I can't believe that I used to ONLY wear a black tee with these pants.
Granted this is only the second time I've really ventured out of my comfort zone with these pants.
I'm really enjoying the new possibilities I'm finding in my closet to pair with them.

Today, I'm linking up with Everybody Everywear for their "pastels" link up.
I really enjoy participating in their link ups.
It always challenges me to see my closet in a new way.

Fashion Inspiration: Feeling Pretty

dress: Forever 21, cardigan: Loft, necklace: Hannah D's

It is amazing to me...how dressing nice can affect your whole day.
Feeling pretty can really brighten your mood.

Sometimes I get lazy (and sleepy) and push the snooze button one too many times.
This normally results in rushing to get ready and leaving the house looking less than my best.

Earlier this week, we had special dinner plans that I was VERY excited about.
(I felt like a little kid...I was so giddy.)
So...I made sure that I put a little more effort into my outfit for work, so I wouldn't have to change before dinner.
That outfit made my day!
{well, that and the anticipation of the evening's events}
I felt like I was on cloud 9 all day.  It was glorious!

Now...the next day, I hit the snooze button one too many times and just threw something on quickly.
That day was a little more difficult.  I felt tired, aggravated, and blah.

I was reminded that I need to consistently put in the extra effort in the morning, so that I can reap the benefits all day.

Fashion Inspiration: Little Black {Summer} Dress

dress: Loft (via consignment shop), jacket: Abercrombie & Fitch (old!)
necklace: "swapped", sandals: kelly & katie (via DSW)

I have discovered a new "kind" of shopping.
I've always loved a good sale...but this can be even more exciting.
Consignment shopping.
If you have time (and some patience), you can find some real treasures.
That is how I found the Loft dress (pictured above) and my J.Crew blazer.

Speaking of "the Loft dress (pictured above)"...
Let me introduce you to my new little black {summer} dress.
It is summer perfection and it fits beautifully.
I have a feeling this beauty is going to get a lot of wear in the coming months.
